Features: user based security

To provide the highest levels of security, DeviceWall focuses on users, not PCs. This means that staff carry the correct privileges with them wherever they go, and cannot jump on a more senior colleague’s PC in the hope of more relaxed security controls.

To help administrators create and deploy the right privileges quickly and accurately, DeviceWall supports both Active Directory and NT domain structures

Protected by default

Where a user or guest logs into a PC and DeviceWall cannot find any policy associated with the individual, the product can be configured to automatically revert to the tightest security setting – thus minimizing the risk of company PCs being used to transfer data by unauthorized users.

Silent or High Visibility modes

DeviceWall allows organizations to choose if the solution should run in the background, simply stopping the connection of unauthorized device types, or whether they want to proactively remind users of the security restrictions that apply to them.

In silen’ mode, Deviceall runs with no user alerts or notifications (other than standard Windows dialogues). In high visibility mode, DeviceWall notifies users of their privileges both at log-on and if an attempt is made to connect a blocked device.

Anti-tamper functionality

While it is accepted best practice that the majority of users should not have local admin rights on their PCs, the real world is less ideal. To prevent users disabling the DeviceWall client agent, the product features a number of anti-tamper features designed to ensure that the service runs as intended.
